NORMANDY

Normandy has multiple faces to discover. Of course, Normandy is deeply connected to the Impressionist painters. Indeed, the very name of this painting current derives from a work by Monet, named "Impression, rising sun", painted near Le Havre in 1872. From Giverny to Etretat, passing by the charming harbour of Honfleur, Normandy is the place to walk on the path of the Impressionist painters.

But Normandy is also famous for its internationally famous seaside resorts: Granville -the Monaco of the North where Christian Dior spent his childhood- and Deauville - glamorous destination from the 20's.
For the Parisian jetsetters first, with the opening of its Casino, two racecourses and an airport. Mrs Coco Chanel opened one of her first store there while painters, writers and poets used to enjoy the Roaring Twenties on the seaside.
After the Second World War, The French movie "A man and a woman" by C. Lelouch won the Cannes Festival Golden Palm in 1966 and two Oscars in Hollywood, Shot in Deauville, it has turned the city into an international romantic destination. This glamorous aspect has been strengthen by the American Movie Festival which first edition took place in 1975 and has brought, every year since, the most famous American movie stars to this Normand charming place.

Normandy charming rolling countryside is a must to disconnect and admire magnificent timbered villas. Not forgetting the sadly famous D-day landing beaches and the majestic Mont St-Michel.
